STORIES FROM OUR BARI | CHAPTER 6 - This Is Dhuri | MADHURIMA SINGH
Three years ago, I had to take the heartbreaking decision of closing down my clothing brand due to pandemic. For a few months, I was lost and confused not knowing what turn life is going to take next till I came across different kinds of clay and fell in love with the beautiful art of creating ceramic jewelry. I started hand painting delicate earrings and necklaces but would kept it under wraps because I was too shy to show it to the world. All that changed when my 4-year-old daughter Madhvi decided to be my biggest cheerleader!
Every time we had guests or family over, she would come running and say, “Mumma, show them what you made. It’s beautiful!”. Being an introvert, I would try to talk her out of it, but she would proudly tell them, “This is Dhuri!” and encourage them to appreciate it wholeheartedly.
Madhvi has been my pillar of strength and guiding light in more ways than I can count. There are so many big and small moments where she has quite innocently motivated me while giving me a new perspective to look at things. At times, she even critiques my work and says, “Mumma, I think you need to change it up a bit; the designs are getting repetitive.” Yes, as a parent I am supposed to be cheering and resolving issues for her while here my baby has been holding my hand just to say that you are amazing and everything will be alright! You know to hear these words from my little girl always fills my heart with love and happiness.
I call her Magic because she is my best friend and the biggest blessing of my life, and with her around there is only sunshine and love!
